Secure messaging rollout is changing our handoffs

We went live at 0700 today with a secure messaging channel for LPN-led handoffs between our clinic and the SNF, and it cut callback delays from hours to minutes. As a patient care coordinator, I’m seeing clearer teach-back and fewer missed med clarifications — how are your teams using these tools to advocate for patients and close loops with families?

We rolled ours out at 0700 last week — , the voicemail chase disappeared. > a patient care coordinator, I’m seeing clearer teach-back and fewer missed med clarifications — how We set a one-tap SBAR template and a ‘MED?’ tag that pings pharmacy if there’s no reply in 15 minutes, which cut our med loops to one thread — STAT stuff still by phone. Are you auto-sharing a sanitized summary to families after RN sign-off, or keeping that separate?

One tweak that helped us: we add a plain‑language ‘family blurb’ field to the LPN handoff, and after RN cosign I paste it verbatim to the portal so everyone sees the same message. We still call for anticoag or new O2 changes, but everything else stays in-thread with a 30‑min unread nudge to trigger a call. @cwagner67 do you gate your family share until RN review?

Added a 0700 “STAT med change” tag; cut loop time further. @samantha_b84, do your SNFs honor read receipts?
