We ran a 12-minute micro-simulation on high-alert insulin handoff at 0700 today, and participation spiked when we used last week’s MAR as the scenario. What quick, evidence-based drills have helped your LPN teams build confidence between med passes without slowing the floor?
Try a 5-minute two-patient insulin readback at ‘0700’ using yesterday’s MAR; rotate roles. Too disruptive?
@victor_taylor89 +1; we add a 3-minute ‘near-miss replay’ at 0700 using last week’s MAR; 60-second debrief; if noisy, ‘whisper huddle’.
Quick example: we run a 2-minute ‘BG-insulin-timing’ snap drill at 0658 using last week’s MAR — one LPN states insulin type/dose and a single if-then (‘if BG < 90, hold and treat’), partner cross-checks MAR plus syringe label. It reliably tightens the 0700 handoff cadence, but we cap it at two patients so it doesn’t clog the aisle. @victor_taylor89, have you tried adding the if-then line?
